Breaking news: The D.C. Appeals Court just killed Net Neutrality.
This could be the end of the Internet as we know it. But it doesn’t have to be.
Tell the FCC to restore Net Neutrality: http://bit.ly/1p4kukb
yO this is very upsetting news to hear, big wig ISP companies want the internet to run much like cable tv, where they’ll have the ability to legally block content from users, and have you pay in order to view your favorite websites and have faster streaming than the rest. Smaller companies who are being overshadowed by the bullies are to be regulated to slow-lanes, (thought you’d never have to experience dial-up ever again?). So if you think your internet bill is already high enough even with your unlimited free access to the internet, this is going to really tick you off. Net neutrality is ridiculously important - this is already a place where we all have the chance to make something out of ourselves, to be seen and heard. The internet was designed to empower people, it is our platform to engage with a worldwide audience and to have our content treated equally to that of bigger named companies. This is where we can openly create content that can make big positive changes to the world, where nobody judges you based upon your income level. To have a gatekeeper filter out who’s wealthy enough to have a say on the internet is really going to affect what the internet stood for. Equal opportunity. It will not only affect every internet user, but it will also severely cripple small online businesses and freelancers. A lot of us, including myself, would probably not be here anymore to create and encourage and inspire each other, and that’s pretty scary to think about. unu
